2 Things I Like About GoldMoney

Premier Off Shore Gold Storage at GoldMoney

offshore-gold-storage-with-goldmoneyOver the years we continue to compare GoldMoney to BullionVault and have normally tapped BullionVault as the overall winner and favorite.

Yet GoldMoney not only keeps improving and removing some of our objections to their service, like better statements and lowering fees, but continues to have 2 features I like over BullionVault.

Note that over these past weeks as Gold and Silver prices have been hammered we continue to buy Gold and Silver at both GoldMoney and BullionVault – we still like both very much, use them ourselves and stick our necks out by recommending them to friends and family.

Advantage GoldMoney

GoldMoney does work very hard to improve their service, and avoid getting U.S. customers (you know, the “land of the free” citizens) in the crosshairs of their Orwellian government.

Here are two things I like about GoldMoney vs BullionVault that continue to be an edge in their favor:

  1. GoldMoney credits our accounts US$30.00 on wires US$10,000 and over (did not receive on a $5000 wire funding). While BullionVault does offer other ways of funding your account, we have had issues with those “other” ways and have used wire transfers almost exclusively since. GoldMoney requires an expensive international (from the U.S.) wire also, costing $50 – $65 depending on which bank we use, but the $30 credit is a nice touch. The BullionVault wire transfer is domestic, however, and costs less – typically $15 – $25. So in the end they are about even but we really like that GoldMoney acknowledges the cost and helps compensate for it.
  2. While GoldMoney does not allow limit orders like BullionVault we do like that with GoldMoney you can deposit a certain sum and buy Gold and Silver in that exact amount, no cash left over in the account. BullionVault, since they use an auction system, may give you a better price but your actual purchase is highly unlikely to be in a round number. This complicates things if you try to have more than one open order at a time with BullionVault. So while BV has its advantages, sometimes you just want simple.

GoldMoney is a great choice to buy and store Gold or other precious metals offshore. There fees have come down and they have a lot going for them. Perhaps most importantly, we do trust them with our own money and do not think you would be disappointed in their ever improving Gold investing service.
